[cobirds] Bird Conservancy Banding Report Chico Basin Ranch - 9/15/18

Activity shows no sign of slowing down here at the Chico Basin Ranch banding station. I broke my record for number of Wilson's Warblers banded in a single day. Nets were closed at 11:10 because of heat and wind, but I caught 11 birds on the closing run, including the season's first Audubon's Warbler. In addition to the list below, I caught a recapture Western Flycatcher that was first banded two days ago. Today's total was 55 birds banded of 12 species. The season's total is now 471 birds and 37 species.

Here's the summary of newly banded birds for the day:
Wilson's Warbler: 41
Western Flycatcher: 2
Orange-crowned Warbler: 2
Chipping Sparrow: 1
Audubon's Warbler: 1
Warbling Vireo: 1
Cassin's Vireo: 1
Lazuli Bunting: 1
Lincoln's Sparrow: 2
MacGillivray's Warbler: 1
Swainson's Thrush: 1
Spotted Towhee: 1

You are welcome to visit the banding station. I'll be banding through the first week of October and nets will be open 6 days a week (Monday through Saturday). Next week I will be opening nets at 6:50 and banding until 11:50 weather permitting.
