Roselawn is about a mile west of I-25 on the north side of Mulberry (= SR14). It is accessed from the frontage road on the north side of Mulberry, with the entrance being situated between a place called the Amish Showroom and the infamous Sundance Saloon. The Sundance is on the ne corner of Mulberry and Summitview. Upon passing thru the south entrance (the only entrance) to Roselawn, proceed straight north to a ceremonial area with a cannon and five flag poles. Just north of the flags is a grassy circle. From the circle look due northwest. Just outside the nw corner of the cemetery property is a low, wooden shed or shelter. From this grassy circle viewpoint, behind the shelter are two very large, fruit-laden Russian-Olive trees. Just north (10 feet) of the trees is a wooden telephone pole. The Lewis's Woodpecker likes to get olives from these trees and then take them to the top of this telephone pole. It also likes to fly e along the fence line to the next few poles and occasionally disappears inside the medium-height cottonwoods right on the fence line due north of the area in the nw corner of the cemetery property where they dump dirt and clippings. Watch for it sallying up for flying insects or going down into the horse pasture north of the fence line for terrestrial insects. But mostly, it likes the olive trees and that nearby pole.
No Broad-winged Hawks today, but I got there after the timing of yesterday's liftoff. The hackberries near the entrance had action but essentially it was all Yellow-rumps.
