[cobirds] Re: Belmar Historic Park Warblers Lakewood/Jeffco

More information than anyone really wants to know.  Familial obligations disallowed me from tending to the warbler flock at Belmar this weekend and I have to say I pulled out a hankie and wiped my eyes when I read Mr. Chavez's post with regard to the "oddies" (my word not in the Oxford) he discovered.  A complete breakdown follows:  On 9/1 Mr. J S (eBird shared records) reported 2 YEWA and 1 WIWA.  On 9/3 I had 2 YEWA and 1 WIWA.  On 9/13 I had 4 YERU, 2 TOWA and 9 WIWA.  On 9/20 I had 2 OCWA, 47 YRWA, 2 TOWA and 4 WIWA.  On 9/21 I had 1 OCWA, 53 YRWA, 1 TOWA , 1 AMRE (oddie), 1 MAWA (oddie), and 3 WIWA.  On 9/22 PJ R (eBird shared records) had 26 YRWA. On 9/23 PJ R (eBird shared records ) had 6 YRWA.  On 9/23 D F (eBird shared records) had 6 YRWA.  On 9/23 M C  had 5 OCWA, X YRWA, 1 PAWA (very oddie), 2 BPWA (very oddie), and 4 WIWA.  Does this mean anything?  I think so.

Today, I went to Belmar to see if the warbler flock reported was still around. On the west side of Koonze Lake, I found a PALM WARBLER. He was hanging with a few Yellow-rumps, one Orange-crowned Warbler, and a Wilson Warbler. This area can be found after crossing the small foot bridge (walking east) and taking the small trail to the south that dead-ends. At the end of this little finger is a bunch of small shrubs, and you will see a Tree Swallow nest box. On the east side of Koonze Lake, I came across two BLACKPOLL WARBLERS. They were feeding low at lake's edge north of the cement path that leads to the gazebo. They were in company of Yellow-rumped Warblers.
