[cobirds] Ken Caryl Ranch Foothills birding hike opportunity June 2

Hi Birders,

I offer to 6 interested birders an opportunity for a birding hike into the private Foothills Open Space area of Ken Caryl Ranch. This will be a moderately strenuous 7 mile hike with a 1,200'  elevation gradient into the upper areas of the KC Ranch property. The trails are great, the scenery amazing, and we will go to areas little visited by birders. Dusky Grouse may be encountered, and we will visit the lands of Ovenbirds, but far from the noises of traffic. Most of the other foothills birds of grassland, oak, aspen, scrub and mixed forest are possible. This will be a great opportunity to learn bird song and other sounds, and in a quiet setting.

This trip will meet at 6 am and be done by early afternoon. No facilities after the meeting spot. Our hiking pace will be dictated by birds, which means lots of breaks.

Contact me off list if you are interested in joining.
