What a great joy to return from Seattle to find a mass of birds around our home patch -- and here, us able to identify them (mostly).
Most impressive: Swallows on Castlewood Canyon Road: 500 Cliffs, 75 Trees (eBird alert), 50 Barns, a few Rough-wings, Violet-greens, and one Bank. A Bullock's Oriole; Great-tailed Grackles, one at McClain pit, one at Walker pit.
At home, 2 House Wrens, 5 Black-headed Grosbeaks, 5 Western Tanagers, and best of all, 3 Lazuli Buntings.
Today, 8 singing Yellow Warblers, 8 singing Song Sparrows, a Yellow-breasted Chat, 3 Orioles, 4 singing Am. Goldfinches, 2 Eastern Kingbirds and Say's Phoebe. Yet hardly any swallows!
