[cobirds] Red-Headed Woodpecker in Conifer

Pleased to report a 1st ever sighting in our yard of a red-headed woodpecker - adult.  Unknown if male/female - unable to find info on distinguishing between the two? Human husband remarked "that bird looks chubby" which I quickly admonished with "birds don't get fat!!" but then wondered if it could be a pregnant female seeking a nesting site? This one flew-hopped from tree to tree, taking time on each (mostly pine types, some juniper, some fir), not necessarily pecking and without haste seemed to also be checking out our few birdhouses and bird / squirrel / nature-made "condos" in the few deadened trees we have perhaps conducting a general survey? We are approximately 9K feet, west of Aspen Park.
