I have been seeing a flock of several dozen hanging out around 136th Ave and I-25 all winter. I only see them every few weeks but have seen them at Washington and 136th twice (I recorded it on eBird once), at Huron and 136th flying over once, and at 140th and Washington once.

On Dave Leatherman's reminder that COBirds info is sparse if we see things but don't post, and the info is helpful to others when we do post, I'm backtracking to say that on Tuesday the 7th there were about seven Great-tailed Grackles near Barr Lake, on E 136th just E of I-76 (Adams Co). I know in the past that they've been seen on the E side of Barr Lake in winter, off of Piccadilly Rd, sometimes in large flocks. These few birds on the W side stuck me as probable early arrivals.Per the discussion a year or so ago on the benefit of COBirds, my take is this: eBird is invaluable, the data is extremely helpful on many levels. But COBirds tells the tale. It's where I really learn a lot.Dan StringerLarkspur, CO
