Re: [cobirds] COBC Tram Report: Boulder Bobolinks

Jenyva Fox and I birded Conejos County over two days (bird your way category) following the Conejos River from the Rio Grande to Platoro and some other spots in the county as well.  We saw lots of beautiful scenery including some fall color and counted about 68 species.  Trip Report - https://ebird.org/tripreport/274562

Hi Everyone,
Sue Riffe, Pamela StClair and I started the day with a Common Poorwill at 5:30 an.m. and ended with. Broad-tailed Hummingbird at 7:00 p.m.

Along the way we had some great finds like Common and Forster's Terns at Boulder Reservoir; dueting Sora and Virginia Rails at  Boulder Valley Ranch; White-winged Crossbill, American Three-toed Woodpecker and Canada Jay at Brainard Lakes; Eastern Phoebe at 63rd St. and St. Vrain and a late MacGillivray's Warbler off Sugarloaf Road.

We had a few misses too. No Great Horned Owl .We failed to find both Hairy and Downy Woodpeckers. Just three shorebirds and we missed Dark-eyed Junco too.

Still, it was a terrific day and we ended with 97 species, one over par.

I'm looking forward to learning how other teams fared, and I'm curious what the total species count is for all teams?

Thanks to everyone who participated in this year's Colorado Birding Challenge and to all the sponsors as well. We're already looking forward to next year's challenge!

Best,

"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo. "So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."
