[cobirds] Bird Conservancy of the Rockies - Barr Banding Station Report, 9/11/24

We had another good day similar to yesterday - total birds banded in the 50's, a bit over a dozen species, Wilson's Warblers leading the count.  This morning we shared the experience with the Boulder Bird Club and then school kids from Graland.

Here's the breakdown of the 55 birds banded today:

Dusky Flycatcher 1
Rock Wren 1
House Wren 3
Swainson's Thrush 1
Gray Catbird 1
Orange-crowned Warbler 1
Yellow Warbler 3 (YEWAs are way below average this year; these 3 were a nice surprise today - all adults, finishing up their post-breeding molt and likely to begin their migration soon)
Townsend's Warbler 1
MacGillivray's Warbler 1
Wilson's Warbler 34
Yellow-breasted Chat 1
Song Sparrow 3
Lincoln's Sparrow 3
White-crowned Sparrow, Gambel's 1

We are banding Tuesday through Sunday mornings (closed Mondays).  There is a public session most weekday mornings from 7:30-8:30, and three time slots on weekends, at 8, 9, and 10 a.m. There is a $7 fee and registration is required – click here to register!

Let me know if you have any questions,
