[cobirds] Bird Conservancy of the Rockies- Chico Basin Ranch Banding Station Report- September 7, 2024

A slower day of birds but in my opinion we caught a Rock Wren and that is a Cool bird to see the field marks up close. From past banding data, a Rock Wren has not been captured in several years and before my time at Chico Basin Ranch. 

25 New Banded Birds
Wilson's Warbler- 8
Ruby-crowned Kinglet- 1
House Wren- 2
Rock Wren- 1
Western Wood-pewee- 2
Hammond's Flycatcher- 2
Brewer's Sparrow- 1
Lincoln's Sparrow- 2
Yellow-breasted Chat- 1
Blue Grosbeak- 1
Gray Catbird- 3
American Robin- 1

3 Recaptures- all birds gained weight and fat
Ovenbird
Northern Waterthrush
Wilson's Warbler

Thanks to the birders who shared their bird sightings with me today. The banding station will be closed on tomorrow Sunday.
The station will open up Monday at sunrise.
 Be sure to sign up on the Aiken Audubon Website (www.aikenaudubon.com) for gaining permission to the ranch. 

Stop on by the station if you are on the ranch and share your sightings.
