[cobirds] Bird Conservancy of the Rockies- Chico Basin Ranch Banding Station Report- September 11, 2024

It was a solemn day this 9/11. The birds that were here yesterday took off last night leaving few to drop into the Olive Grove here at Chico. There are still Black-chinned hummers and I heard a Broad-tailed hummingbird today. Otherwise it was very quiet, unlike Clear Spring Ranch today. Just goes to show how hard it is to predict songbird migration from place to place.
19 New Banded Birds
Wilson's Warbler- 8
MacGillivray's Warbler- 2
House Wren- 1
Willow Flycatcher- 1
Hammond's Flycatcher- 1
Lincoln's Sparrow- 4
Lark Sparrow- 1
American Robin- 1

1 Recapture
Brown Thrasher banded yesterday.

The banding station will be open this week through Saturday from Sunrise until @ 11:30am. A covey of Scaled Quail have been near or on the road to the banding station the past two days.
Be sure to sign up on the Aiken Audubon Website (www.aikenaudubon.com) for gaining access to the ranch.

Stop by the banding station if you are on the ranch and share your sightings.

Have a good day,
Julie Shieldcastle
