[cobirds] Bird Conservancy of the Rockies - Barr Banding Station Report, 9/10/24

Our busiest day of the season so far, we shared it with the Tuesday Birders.  At this time of year, if we are going to have a good day, we need lots of Wilson's Warblers, and we got 36 of them, keeping us on track to reach a normal number of our most commonly caught species.  And then a nice variety of other species, including our second hawk of the season, this one a female Sharp-shinned (fun fact - this is the first time in at least 20 years that we've caught a SSHA and a COHA in the same season).

Here's the breakdown of today's 50 new birds:

Sharp-shinned Hawk 1
Willow Flycatcher 1
Cassin's Vireo 1
Red-eyed Vireo 1
Black-capped Chickadee 1
House Wren 1
Orange-crowned Warbler 1
Wilson's Warbler 36
Green-tailed Towhee 3
Lincoln's Sparrow 3
White-crowned Sparrow, Gambel's 1

We are banding Tuesday through Sunday mornings (closed Mondays).  There is a public session most weekday mornings from 7:30-8:30, and three time slots on weekends, at 8, 9, and 10 a.m. There is a $7 fee and registration is required – click here to register!

Let me know if you have any questions,
