[cobirds] COBC report: Weld County - The Owl Show You Some Good Birding Team

Hi All

Hope everyone had a great Challenge Day!

Our team members Adrian Lakin, Patrick Morgan, Kelly Ormesher, Jeremy Alcorn, and I started birding Crow Valley at 6:08.  The birds were already active and of the first we counted were two Great Horned Owls calling.   We ended our day at St. Vrain SP where we picked up our last two birds (not counting the one's in Adrian's yard), a Belted Kingfisher and a Common Yellowthroat.  Our par was 96 and we were able to tally 115 total, %120 of goal.  We ran out of steam around 5:45.

Our highlights were when Patrick found a Townsends in a mixed flock at Crow Valley, when Kelly spotted Black Terns over the water at Union, when Jeremy located a gorgeous Ferruginous Hawk on the Pawnee, and when Eagle-eye Lakin got on a Least Flycatcher at Crow Valley.

Thanks to all of you out there who supported our team and the important cause.

Good Birding!
