Aside from rampaging deer taking out 3 nets, we had a very pleasant morning, with lots of birds and nice variety:
Downy Woodpecker 1
Western Wood-pewee 3
Dusky Flycatcher 2
White-breasted Nuthatch 1
Swainson’s Thrush 1
Gray Catbird 1
Orange-crowned Warbler 1
Yellow-rumped Warbler 1 (FOS. After considerable debate, we decided we could not specify subspecies on this very young, probable female.)
Townsend’s Warbler 2
MacGillivray’s Warbler 2
Wilson’s Warbler 39
Yellow-breasted Chat 1
Green-tailed Towhee 2
Chipping Sparrow 3
Lincoln’s Sparrow 1
Recaps (birds previously caught this year) included a Black-capped Chickadee, House Wrens, and a Common Yellowthroat, bringing the total species for the day to 18, the highest in 1 day yet this fall.
Tomorrow (Sat) is the Barr Lake Fall Festival; no groups scheduled for Sun. We will be open every day this coming week EXCEPT Wed (9/12). It is a big week for school groups (M, T, Th and F).
