Ah. A predictable (but not unimportant; see below) response from Gary Lefko:

We're getting there, Gary. Thanks to the efforts of Brenda Linfield and others, the CFO website is indeed now delivering "real-time" content, as it happens. Go to the CFO website:
http://cfobirds.org
And check out all the live content: CFO "headlines," top-center; recent COBirds posts, top-right; CFO Twitter, right-center; and eBird rarities, bottom-right.
All that said, I'd like to challenge Gary with a JFK-esque take on being a member of CFO. Yes, Gary, CFO delivers great resources for the "consumer": a great journal, a great convention, great field trips, COBirds, and more. But CFO is more than a mere commodity; CFO is an important cause. CFO supports young birders, CFO supports young scientific researchers, CFO supports the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, and CFO supports local communities. (Talk to the folks at our recent convention sites about that.)
Yes, you'll get something out of a CFO membership. But consider giving back ("Ask what you can do for CFO"). Join CFO! Get involved. Give us your ideas and feedback.
And, on THAT note, I'm grateful to Gary for his frequent reminders about the need for a member-based organization like CFO to get up to speed, e-wise, as fast as possible. We hear you, Gary, we appreciate your input, and we solicit more of it. I know that CFO President Jim Beatty, CFO WebMistress Brenda Linfield, and others on the CFO BoD are strongly committed to improving CFO's e-presence and e-functioning. We've made great strides, and we're going further.
Gary: Please join us at the next CFO BoD meeting, and share your ideas with us.
