[cobirds] RMBO Barr Banding Station Report, 9/5/12

After 5+ years of relatively low Wilson’s Warbler numbers at Barr, I think/hope I can safely say that they are back for this year…….banded 64 of the little guys this morning.  We’ve now caught more this year (257) than we did all last year (228).  Nice birds to catch on a busy morning, as they are calm in the net and the hand and most very easy to age, sex and release!  Also banded 16 non-Wilson’s and caught a Downy Woodpecker banded in 2010:

Downy Woodpecker      1 (Male, banded 9/17/10)

Hammond’s Flycatcher  1

Dusky Flycatcher              2

House Wren       1

Yellow Warbler 1

Townsend’s Warbler      6

MacGillivray’s Warbler   3

Wilson’s Warbler              64

Chipping Sparrow            2

Our closed day next week is Wednesday, 9/12.  FYI, large school group out most of tomorrow morning (9/6) and Saturday is the Barr Lake Birding Festival (lots of fun and lots of people).
