Bill Maynard and I started at Pueblo City Park in Pueblo at 730am. We spent nearly three hours in there, walking around. Highlights follow:
Northern Parula - 1
American Redstart - 1 female/immature
Summer Tanager - 1 molting, yellowish red
Townsend's Warbler - 18 or more
Pygmy Nuthatch - 1
Then, we walked west of Valco Ponds parking in Pueblo to the fish hatchery ponds, and back.
Townsend's Warbler - 5
Black Phoebe - 1
Eastern Phoebe - 1
Warbling Vireo - 1
Mountain Chickadee - 1
Eastern Kingbird - 1
We then looked around the Snakeskin Picnic Area, below Pueblo Reservoir dam, over to the Swim Beach area area:
Townsend's Warbler - 2
interesting sounding empid - 1 (making non "wit" sounds, looked Alder/Willow type bird)
9 species of warblers today (at least 25 Townsend's Warblers, the most I've seen in Pueblo in one day ever). I'm sure there are more in the Osprey Picnic Area, where we didn't go today, though has had Townsend's, both yesterday and the day before.
Good birding,
Brandon Percival
