Greetings All
A couple of "heads up" for those thinking of shorebirding e and s of Greeley
Water levels at places I visited were unpredictable. Inexplicably, the water level at the Weld Co Rd 59 ponds was so high that there neither shorebirds nor ducks. On the other hand, Loloff has NO water. Okay, maybe a tablespoon or two, but no more, not a drop -- and no birds. The pond just s. of the intersection of WCR 54 and 55 was dry a month at
ago and is no overflowing, with a bit of flooded grass habitat. Woods Lake has some nice habitat with some birds, but birding there is dangerous due to traffic. Oddly, despite much apparent habitat, there were virtually no shorebirds at Timnath or Fossil Creek.
