[cobirds] Chico Basin Ranch Banding Station- Bird Conservancy of the Rockies-9/13/2025

It is always an unknown to me what birds will be around each morning. Today was a typical fall day with Wilson's Warblers dominating. Fifteen bird species were captured and banded including a first for the season Ovenbird. The two recaptures: Lincoln's Sparrow was originally banded on Monday and was recaptured today with the same amount of fat deposits and weight as the day it was banded; The Green-tailed Towhee banded 3 days ago had increased its weight by almost 3 grams. There appears to be no shortage of food around for them to bulk up for migration.

Hoping the other banding stations had a good day today.

The Chico Banding station will be closed tomorrow and open on Monday at sunrise.
