Pretty good numbers of Sandhill Cranes around the Valley. But they are relatively dispersed. You can find some at the Monte Vista Refuge (Rio Grande Cty) and today there were about 500 at the turnouts. Another place to find them is on the Stanley Road (From Jnctn of Hwy 160 and Countyline road between Alamosa and MV, go north about 2 miles) (Alamosa County). Watch on the right for the Stanley road and you should see plenty of birds along the way travelling the Stanley Road to Hwy 17.
