Got a break from the wind today and had a typical, nice fall day - Started with Orange-crowned Warblers and Ruby-crowned Kinglets, then Juncos with a few other Sparrows thrown in. Highlights of the day were 2 young Red-naped Sapsuckers; as Susan noted in an earlier post, these are rare at the station - we've only had 5 total in the prior 30 years, and the most recent was in 2012. Here's a breakdown of the 44 new birds caught today:

White-crowned Sparrow, Gambel's 4
Dark-eyed Junco, Pink-sided 7
Dark-eyed Junco, Oregon 3
Remember we are closed tomorrow, Monday! We will then be open Tuesday-Sunday for one more week, weather permitting! We are now opening nets at 7:40 and should have birds back at the station by 8:20. School groups arrive most weekdays at about 9:30. The best time to visit (fewest people, most birds) is before 9:30 weekdays and Sundays.
