[cobirds] Bird Conservancy of the Rockies Banding Report - Grand Valley Audubon Society, 10/9/19

Today brought us slightly higher diversity, with 16 new birds and 3 recaptures of 8 species.  This finally brought our season's new bird total for GVAS above 200 birds!  Unfortunately this number may not get much higher, as the weather looks iffy for the next two days and we will probably be opening nets much later than normal.

Ruby-crowned Kinglet 1
Mountain Chickadee 1 (FOS)
White-crowned Sparrow (Gambel's) 8 new 2 recapture
White-crowned Sparrow (Mountain) 1
Song Sparrow 3
Spotted Towhee 1
Western Scrub-jay 1
Black-capped Chickadee 1 recapture

Visitors are welcome at the banding station - we start getting birds at around 7:45 and close around 11:30, weather permitting.  Banding goes until this Friday the 11th.  Cold weather and possible snow on Thurs/Fri may interfere with banding on those days, and it is likely that I will open nets late on both days (especially Friday).  School groups arrive at around 9:30, so if you would like to visit it's best to arrive before then!
