The Rawhide Power Station CBC was held Dec 31. A record turnout (over 20 participants) and no wind, produced the highest species total, 73 species, in twenty five years.
Notable were American White Pelican (a first for the count), Greater White-fronted Goose, 3 Ross' Geese, Virginia Rail, Long-eared Owl, 873 Eurasian Collared Doves (more than twice the previous high), 32 Pinyon Jays, 2 Chihuahuan Ravens (another first), and 66 Common Redpolls. Many thanks to the area leaders and observers who ignored the weather forecast and made the count a tremendous success. Thanks also to Jon Little of the Platte River Power Authority for arranging access to restricted portions of the power station property.
