[cobirds] Random Greenlee/Waneka lifer, not even 30 minutes ago

Hey, all.

Earlier this hour, I saw a Bonaparte gull at Waneka Lake, Lafayette, Boulder Co. It was a first for me at the Greenlee/Waneka/Hecla complex—and the 260th species I've seen there since Apr. 2006. Also:

* a beautiful orange sulphur, Colias eurytheme, flitting about in the late afternoon sun

* 30+ American bushtits

* a female wood duck

As Joaquin Andujar famously said, "There is one word in America that says it all, and that one word is 'You never know.'"

Ted Floyd
Lafayette, Boulder Co.

P. s. The gull didn't stay for long. It flew to the southwest, perhaps to roost at nearby Hecla Pond, Boulder Co., perhaps to visit with John Rawinski at Smith Reservoir, Costilla Co. You never know.
