[cobirds] Bird Conservancy of the Rockies - Barr Banding Report, 10/15/23

In these final days of fall banding, we expect lots of White-crowned Sparrows (which we are getting in normal numbers), Dark-eyed Juncos (not so much) and bigger birds.  In the "bigger bird" category, today we added our 4th Blue Jay and our first Sharp-shinned Hawk.  The Flickers were flying fairly low in a good sized flock; hope to catch them starting tomorrow.  Here's yesterday's numbers:

Sharp-shinned Hawk 1 (young, female)

Blue Jay 1

Lincoln's Sparrow 1

White-crowned Sparrow, Gambel's 10

Our last week!  If you would like to visit, we have one-hour slots (up to 15 visitors at a time) from 7:30-8:30 most weekday mornings (Tues-Fri, we are closed on Mon) and 8, 9, and 10 a.m. one-hour time slots on the weekends.  As long as the heat continues, you are more likely to see birds if you come earlier in the morning.  Click here to make a reservation.
