Greetings Chapter Leaders,

Thank you all who have taken the time to promote and recruit volunteers for the Intermountain West Shorebird Survey Program. With your help, coordinated, synchronous surveys for migratory shorebirds are resuming across the Intermountain West this August and next April for the first time since 1995!

With our peak migration window for this fall fast approaching, we wanted to provide another opportunity to share the sign up form, but also provide training links and important dates coming up in the following weeks:

It's not too late to join surveys this fall! Interested in volunteering this August or next April? Sign up HERE

*Mileage reimbursement options are available*

Live Training Webinars (recordings will also  be distributed to our volunteer email list)

  • July 20th, 2022 at 5-6:30pm PST – Project Intro and Basic Training Webinar
  • August 2nd, 2022 at 3-4:30pm PST – Survey Protocol and Techniques Webinar
  • April 10th and 17th, 2023 – Survey Protocol and Techniques Webinars

Survey windows: (same dates used for a minimum of 3-5 years at each site)

  • August 9th - 22nd, 2022. Fall Survey Window – get out and count shorebirds!
    • Hold 1-2 days for field work and data reporting within each window.
  • April 24th - 30th, 2023. Spring Survey Window – get out and count shorebirds!

Thanks again for your dedication to migratory bird conservation!
