You are correct, Rufous H. do not nest here, but they are in migration and males come to La Plata Ct. (etc.) as early as the end of June.  They have finished their breeding tasks in BC and Alaska, and the males migrate first.
I run a hummingbird monitoring project at Mesa Verde NP, and we banded about 25 Rufous hummers on Wed.--males, females and juveniles.
If you are ever interested in seeing our project, let me know!

PS  did you record the date you first had Rufous at your feeders?  We are always interested in the first arrival date.

Oh, and I forgot to mention, I love in Mancos, Colorado
