[cobirds] Barr Banding Station Update, 9-11-15

A really great day at Barr......84 birds banded.  Lots of Wilson's, of course, but also some really interesting other species and a number of first of season birds:

House Wren 4
Ruby-crowned Kinglet 1
Swainson's Thrush 1 (FOS)
Hermit Thrush 1
Gray Catbird 1 (FOS)
Brown Thrasher 1 (FOS)
Orange-crowned  Warbler 8
Wilson's Warbler 63
Spotted Towhee 1 (FOS)
Vesper Sparrow 1 (FIRST SINCE 2004!)
Song Sparrow 1
Dark-eyed Junco (Pink-sided) 1

We are open 6 days per week, weather permitting. Our next closed day is Mon, 9/14. Tomorrow (Saturday) is the Barr Lake Birding Festival, with lots of family oriented activities and bird hikes and lots of visitors to the banding station.

We are opening nets at 6:30, and will run until noon or whenever it gets too hot. School groups arrive about 9:30 a.m. most weekdays. It is wise to come early to beat the school groups and for more/better birds.
