When I was at Valmont Res a week ago, a Golden Eagle was on the ground (thought it was a coyote initially, it was so huge), picking through the remains of a Canada Goose. Lovely looks with my scope for non-birding family members. Yesterday at Walden Ponds, there were 2 GOEA on the utility poles running next to the ponds. I post this because I’m always surprised when I see them out here, and that’s 3 birds (2 or 3 individuals) in a week, a surprise.
