Hello,
I arrived at 6:50AM on 1/8/13, topped off Mark's thistle feeder and loaded the area with seed. At 7:12AM the Golden-crowned made the first appearance, 2 more appearances in 2 hours of observation, all spp. of Juncos present including a single Cassiar.
Metro birding as follows (taxonomic order):
Greater White-fronted Goose (1) Centennial Park 1/7/13
Snow Goose (1) (white-morph adult) Centennial Park 1/2/13
Ross's Goose (1) (white-morph juvenile) Fort Logan National Cemetery 1/2/13
Northern Pintail (1) S Platte River Trail-Florida to Evans 1/4/13
Northern Pintail (11) Mary Carter Greenway-Union to Bowles 1/7/13
Canvasback (3) Belmar Park 1/8/13
Thayer's Gull (1) (winter adult) Centennial Park 1/7/13
Hairy Woodpecker (1) Morrison Park 1/8/13
Merlin (1) Mary Carter Greenway Trail-Union to Bowles 1/7/13
Mountain Chickadee (1) Hudak Yard 1/4/13
Bushtit (3) Hudak Yard 1/5/13
Brown Creeper (1) Morrison Park 1/8/13
American Dipper (1) Bear Creek Trail-Wadsworth to Kipling 1/3/13
American Dipper (3) Morrison Park 1/8/13
The birds that will hold in my opinion are the Pintail at Mary Carter, Canvasback at Belmar and Dipper at Morrison Park.
On a side note, I for one enjoy the banter with regard to Common and Hoary.
Happy Birding,
Hudak
Denver County
