[cobirds] Sparrow & butterfly report, Douglas

Our yard has had a six-sparrow menu this month -- though not all six at the same time.

Lincoln's - Oct 3-6
Song - Oct 3-14
White-crowned - all month, all or almost all Gambel's
White-throated - Oct 13-21
Am. Tree - Oct 22 on
Juncos - all month.

During our Bit Sit! we counted 3 wren species -- Rock, Canyon, and Marsh (the first I have recorded for the 'Franktown Basin.'
Even though neighbors continue to see Western Bluebirds, we haven't seen any since Oct 17. One night Urling saw five of them go to roost in one of our bluebird houses.

This bug report, inspired by Monday's DFO butterfly talk: this week we've seen more butterflies than for the last two months. They like the flaming yellow rabbit brush.

Urling has identified:

American Lady
Painted Lady
Melissa/Ackmon Blue (photo inconclusive)
Com. Checkered Skipper
Dainty Sulphur
Orange/Clouded Sulphur
Common Buckeye

Probably they won't fly today, with the low temperatures & expected moisture. Maybe some different birds.
