So, I headed out for a morning of birding at Jackson Reservoir today, only to find the area enshrouded in fog. The veil was not so thick as to prevent landbirding, so I started with that. No Megas, but a nice variety of nice birds, including:
2 Evening Grosbeaks
6 Mountain Chickadees (look out KS, here they come)
3 WW Juncos
3 WT Sparrows
1 Swamp Sparrow
2 kinda late Chipping Sparrows
1 kinda late Brown Thrasher
By 10 am, shorebirding was possible, so I headed out onto the flats from the "outlet channel." As always, I wonder what I missed. What I didn't miss was gulls, as there were very few around. No scoters, jaegers, loons or that type of thing either. However, I did have 12 species of shorebirds, which for 22 Oct is pretty fun.

38 American Golden-Plovers (yes, 38, counted 4 times, and not a Pacific GP among em)
266 Killdeer
11 Greater Yellowlegs
4 Lesser Yellowlegs
3 Western Sandpipers
58 Least Sandpipers
3 Baird's Sandpipers
5 Pectoral Sandpipers
1 Stilt Sandpiper
48 LB Dowitchers
2 RN Phalaropes
and a Wilson's Snipe in a marshy spot.
The question is, have these Am GPs just been building up over the last month, or has there been some coming and going.
