[cobirds] Pueblo County, Saturday

For a birthday present I asked to get out early this morning to look for birds and herps in northern Pueblo County.

Avian highlights:
  • Two Yellow-breasted Chats, one of which was singing quite close to me and I finally got a good, clear photo of one after 14 years of trying.  https://www.flickr.com/photos/mrselvig/51166828199/in/dateposted-public/
  • A Black-headed Grosbeak in the same area as the Chats.
  • FOY Bullock's Orioles.  These are the early arrivals, the Cottonwood stand will have a whole colony of them in a week or two.
  • FOY Lark Sparrows and Brewer's Sparrows.
  • FOY Yellow-rumped Warbler.
  • Two Burrowing Owls.
Non-avian highlights:
  • FOY Coachwhip.
  • A remarkably oblivious Coyote, which walked within 10-12 feet of me.
