[cobirds] Shorebirds at S. Platte at McKay Rd (Adams County)

This morning there was a congregation of shorebirds on a mudflat in an almost empty reservoir between 96th and 104th Avenue on McKay Rd. Many Pelicans, Cormorants, Avocets, Snowy Egrets, and 2 Great Egrets. Smaller numbers of Lesser Yellowlegs, Spotted Sandpipers, Semipalmated Sandpipers, and Western Sandpipers. A Peregrine Falcon was sitting on the western shore watching the action. An adult Redtail with 2 juveniles was hiding in the grass on the north shore.  To see this, park at Elaine Valente Park and walk east to the bike path, then south about 1/3 mile on the bike trail along the western shore of the Platte.
