The monthly birdwalk at Chatfield today discovered a male Summer Tanager at the Plum Creek Picnic area (in the cottonwoods by the picnic tables between the parking lot and the reservoir). This bird was mostly red, but showed signs of molt (yellow feathering on the flanks and undertail coverts). Possibly indicating a one year old male? At least two Red-eyed Vireos were still singing in this area, but closer to the reservoir itself.
eBird also flagged a first year Franklin's Gull (a tad early for this location).
