Walked the South Platte from 88th Avenue south this morning. Along with the usual mix of ducks, there was one Hooded Merganser along with many Common Mergansers. Four male Red-breasted Merganser on the Thornton Gravel Ponds made a merganser trifecta. A dark morph Ferruginous Hawk and rufous morph Red-tail added to the fun. Many Common Goldeneyes, but no Barrow's.
