We got into the 20's on this gray, cool morning, but only because there are tons of White-crowned Sparrows around. 25 new birds plus 2 recaptures (first time being caught this year, banded some prior year):

-- Downy Woodpecker 2
Black-capped Chickadee 1 return, banded 2012
Ruby-crowned Kinglet 1
Orange-crowned Warbler 1
Spotted Towhee 1
Chipping Sparrow 1
Clay-colored Sparrow 1
Song Sparrow 1 return, banded in 2011 (we rarely get a returning Song Sparrow, which is surprising since we think of them as our year-round sparrow at Barr. This is the first time this one has been recaught, although it has probably been at Bar4 each fall since it was banded)
White-crowned Sparrow, Gambel's 14
Dark-eyed Junco, Oregon 4
Down to the wire - only 4 more banding days this season! We are open tomorrow, then closed Thurs, open Fri, Sat, and Sun. We will take down the station after banding on Sun. We are opening nets about 6:45, and running until noon or whenever it gets too hot or too
windy or too slow or too whatever. School groups arrive about 9:30 a.m. most weekdays. Meredith McBurney
