[cobirds] Barr Banding Station Update, 9/12/15

We had lots of birds to share with the many visitors who came out to enjoy Barr Lake's Fall Birding Festival today - 68 new (banded today) plus another 22 banded in recent days.  The Wilson's continue to dominate, but we had a total of 7 warbler species (those listed below plus a recap Orange-crowned). Here's the breakdown on the new birds:

Rock Wren 1
House Wren 4
Yellow Warbler 1
Yellow-rumped Warbler, Audubon's 1
Townsend's Warbler 4
MacGillivray's Warbler 2
Common Yellowthroat 6
Wilson's Warbler 46
Green-tailed Towhee 1
Clay-colored Sparrow 1
Lincoln's Sparrow 1

We are open 6 days per week, weather permitting, through Sunday, October 11. We will be open tomorrow (Sunday), then closed Monday.  Our closed day the following week is Wednesday, 9/23.  We are opening nets at 6:30, and will run until noon or whenever it gets too hot. School groups arrive about 9:30 a.m. most weekdays. It is wise to come early to beat the school groups and for more/better birds.
