[cobirds] Am Three-Toed Woodpecker - Teller Co

On a nice snowy Sunday hike up Horsethief Falls Trail (Teller Co, off Hwy 67 between Divide and Cripple Creek), we had a female-plumaged Three-toed Woodpecker flaking bark off a Spruce (likely Englemann) at the falls. Most cooperative and friendly TTWO I have encountered. Flaking bark at eye level just 10 feet away from 5 of us, without concern.

Also seen:

Dark-eyed Juncos (all gray-headed race)

Flock of 30+ Pine Siskins

Townsend’s Solitaire

Otherwise, fairly quiet.
