[cobirds] Golden-crowned Sparrow--Red Rocks/Jeffco

Today, as I pulled into the Red Rocks Trading Post I saw the post by Christian Nunes that the Teller Farm's Golden-crowned Sparrow returned.  The feeders and the ground were void of seed.  I threw down some millet and waited for the birds to show up.  The first bird out of the thicket was the dapper Golden-crowned Sparrow!!  This is the fourth year this bird has wintered at Red Rocks.  He first showed up as an immature in the winter of 2009. I watched the area for 45 minutes and had Scrub Jays(10), White-crowned Sparrow(1), Song Sparrows(3) Juncos(10), Spotted Towhees(3), Pine Sisken(1), and the other typical Red Rocks birds.  This is the time of the year when the Red Rocks feeders can get interesting!  Photos of this bird can be seen at the gallery below:
