[cobirds] Weld County Over the Weekend

Hi all

Scouted usual Weld sites (no grasslands this time) in preparation for Colorado Birding Challenge. Total of 80 species seen, highlights (includes "new" not seen last weekend) were:
  • Loggerhead Shrike (CR 110/27)
  • Golden Eagle (CR 112/27)
  • Vesper Sparrow - 7 (CR 108 btw 27/Hwy 85)
  • Willet - 3 (1-Crom Lake, 2-CR 59 Marsh)
  • Barn Swallow - 6 (Crom Lake)
  • Tree Swallow - 3 (Crom Lake)
  • "Yellow-footed Gull" UNID (Weld County Landfill, Hwy 14)
  • Clark's Grebe (Woods Lake)
  • Black-crowned Night Heron - 3 (Glenmere Park)
  • Marsh Wren (CR 59 Marsh)
  • Burrowing Owl - 3 (1-CR 98 btw 33/37, closer to 37) on north; 2-CR 57/74 NW corner; mile west of Galeton Ponds (CR 61/74)
  • Snow Goose 25 (24-Loloff Reservoir; 1-CR 61/74 (Galeton Pond))
  • Wood Duck - 4 (2 pair) (Cozzens Lake)
  • Ring-necked Pheasant (Loloff Reservoir)
  • Brown-headed Cowbird - 2 (Pair) (CR 45/42)
  • Great Egret (CR 47 on west at irrigation pond btw CR 40-46)
  • Marbled Godwit (Crom Lake)
  • Dark-eyed Junco (Yard)
Had a flock of 20+ Least Sandpiper (seen species last week) this weekend at CR 59 marsh.
