Scouted usual Weld sites (no grasslands this time) in preparation for Colorado Birding Challenge. Total of 80 species seen, highlights (includes "new" not seen last weekend) were:
- Loggerhead Shrike (CR 110/27)
- Golden Eagle (CR 112/27)
- Vesper Sparrow - 7 (CR 108 btw 27/Hwy 85)
- Willet - 3 (1-Crom Lake, 2-CR 59 Marsh)
- Barn Swallow - 6 (Crom Lake)
- Tree Swallow - 3 (Crom Lake)
- "Yellow-footed Gull" UNID (Weld County Landfill, Hwy 14)
- Clark's Grebe (Woods Lake)
- Black-crowned Night Heron - 3 (Glenmere Park)
- Marsh Wren (CR 59 Marsh)
- Burrowing Owl - 3 (1-CR 98 btw 33/37, closer to 37) on north; 2-CR 57/74 NW corner; mile west of Galeton Ponds (CR 61/74)
- Snow Goose 25 (24-Loloff Reservoir; 1-CR 61/74 (Galeton Pond))
- Wood Duck - 4 (2 pair) (Cozzens Lake)
- Ring-necked Pheasant (Loloff Reservoir)
- Brown-headed Cowbird - 2 (Pair) (CR 45/42)
- Great Egret (CR 47 on west at irrigation pond btw CR 40-46)
- Marbled Godwit (Crom Lake)
- Dark-eyed Junco (Yard)
Had a flock of 20+ Least Sandpiper (seen species last week) this weekend at CR 59 marsh.
