Re: [cobirds] Lucy’s Warbler Arapahoe County

A maybe, maybe not sighting today. At the end of a bird walk with the High Line Canal Conservancy, I spotted a small, dull gray, active warbler-like bird in the Belleview High Line Canal Trailhead parking lot. I couldn't get on to the bird, which was backlit by our bright grey sky today, quickly enough. The bird flew into private property and disappeared. What I saw wasn't enough to confirm that the Lucy's Warbler is still present, but now moving around the trail and expansive private property (and, so, disappearing from birders). It also wasn't enough to confirm that this was any other warbler other than the Lucy's.

Nathan's spot is a good spot, a fairly short walk from the ponds. You can also park at Castlewood Park across Holly from the Preserve, though it's a long (but pleasant) walk to the ponds from there.

The Lucy's Wabler continues at Marjorie Perry Nature Preserve. The bird was (mostly) along the same line of shrubs as where Cole Sage first reported it. This morning, the warbler was moving a lot and was generally farther northwest along the ponds than where it was reported yesterday. It also disappeared into private property along the pond, at times. 

Thanks to the unidentified birder from Arvada who told Geoff Stacks and me had heard the bird earlier this morning. Thanks to Geoff for spotting it. Thanks to Cole for reporting it.
