[cobirds] Mockingbird & Cassin's Kingbird-Rio Blanco Co.

While running my Breeding Bird Survey (BBS) today (Weds., 29 Jun.’22) near Rangely (Rio Blanco Co., CO) had a couple of good ones for northwest Colorado, a NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD and a pair of CASSIN’S KINGBIRDs.  The Cassin’s are likely repeat offenders from last year as they are in roughly the same spot as they probably bred in 2021.  The Mockingbird is certainly a one off, but fun none-the-less.

If you are interested in chasing either of these, the Mockingbird was in a small picnic area where the White River crosses the Deserado Mine Rd (RBC 65) just off HW 64 east of town.  The Cassin’s are a little further east, then south on RBC 122; should be able to pick them up +/- ¼ mile either side of MM3.  If you’d like more specific directions or other information, just let me know separately.

Good BBSing,

Doug
