[cobirds] Red-headed Woodpecker in Canon City today

I found a Red-headed Woodpecker on the Canon City Riverwalk above the ropes course today.  This is a rare species in Fremont County and I believe there is only one prior record.

More photos of this beauty on my Birds and Nature blog (as well as a bunch of cool neotropical migrants I photographed in the past several weeks in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas including such neat birds as Cape May Warbler, Least Bittern chicks and parent, Philadelphia Vireo, Gray-cheeked Thrush, Kentucky Warbler, hawk migration).
