We had a pleasant trip home from the Lamar CFO convention, as we stopped in several places. Most places, others have reported. At Jackson Pond, Eads, Chuck Hunterdmark & Paul Slingsby pointed out a Willet and directed us to a Northern Waterthrush along the stream west of Jackson Pond.
A rancher saw us poking along the road and invited us to drive his patch near Nee So Pah reservoir. The patch consisted of a lot of tamarisk, with a couple of mockingbirds, Lark Sparrows, & meadowlarks. As we exited we saw him again & he sent us to Swede Lake. This had 10 American White Pelicans and 100 or so heat-waved ducks.
At Hugo State Wildlife Area (Lincoln County), Urling spotted two warblers in a small copse of one cottonwood & several elms: a Yellow-rumped and a Black-throated Gray. We watched the BTG for at least 15 minutes as it fed actively on (perhaps, Dave) European elm flea weevils --except that it fed in a well-leafed-out cottonwood, so probably not elm weevils.
