[cobirds] No adult male Calliope, but many others, and yd. open

I waited for 2 weeks, hoping I would get a m. ad. Calliope in my yard. No such luck, but I have had 3-4, different female calliope in my yard for the last 2 weeks.

Remember, last year I was inudated with all ages of Rufous, including many immatures. The pattern started again in my yard this summer around, 7/14. I'm a  bit worried. I hope I do not have to change my email from tjcalliope to tjrufous.

What happened yesterday in my yard should have been ILLEGAL. I had 2, ad. and maybe 3ad. female, Rufous, at the same time and in addition, I had 1, ad. male Rufous. You can imagine what a nightmare that was. I have never observed 4, adult Rufous being in the  small area at the same time, except up at the Fawnbrook Inn, once. ONE, Calliope, 3 immature Rufous, and 4, broad-tailed, hung in there zipping around, with the dominant ad. Rufous, on 8/2.

Today, there were 2, adult f. Rufous, no Calliope, many immature Broad-tailed and Rufous. I have had days of 4 species of hummers.

I wonder if I have had more ad. Rufous this summer, because some might be here remembering my yard from when they were immatures in my yard?

*My yard is open for folks to come and observe.  I have 2 chairs in the front driveway. They are located close to where hummers feed on the flowers. A hummer feeder is in the front, hanging next to the front door area. If you have a camera lens which is close to around 300mm, this is great for photography. The hummers are feeding more frequently from flowers, verse feeder. Please do not walk around the driveway. This will encourage the hummers to leave.

There are 2, chairs in the backyd and they are positioned close to the flowers. Again Please do not walk around yard, but sit quietly, and a 300mm camera lens will work here also for getting hummers feeding on certain flowers. YOU will see much more by sitting than walking. There is a feeder in the back yd next to the birdbath[it is around 3 and a half feet off of the ground]. Sometimes you get lucky and see a hummer take a bath in the bird bath !!!! There is also 1, more hummer feeder hanging in the back from the clothes line. RIGHT now hummers go to the flowers most of the time.

My address is 4400 Bow Mar Dr. Littleton,CO. 80123. Park on the west side of Bow Mar Dr, and walk up the driveway. 4400 is on the mailbox. When you walk up the driveway, there is a garage at the end. East of the garage is a patio. Walk through here to the 2 chairs which are next to and east of the Aspen trees. From the garage again, if you walk west you will see 2 chairs in the front driveway.

Email me, as to when you might be here and on what date. Mornings, evenings, or anytime in the day is fine. Wednesday mornings are closed for gardening. You can come saturday, 8/4.

Warm regards,

Tina
