[cobirds] N Waterthrush, CSR, El Paso Co, Saturday

Hey COBirders,

I expected this morning would be as quiet as it has been all week, with the clear skies and warm air, but there was a good arrival of migrants between 8 and 9 a.m. at Clear Spring Ranch. This area along Fountain Creek is a corridor, not a trap, so birds often turn up later in the morning, not just at dawn. Turns out it was my most productive morning banding this spring.

Banding included:
FOS Northern Waterthrush (adult)
Orange-crowned Warbler (SY female)
4 Yellow Warblers (all adult males)
Common Yellowthroat (adult female)
FOS Ruby-crowned Kinglet (SY female)
5 House Wrens
3 Lincoln's Sparrows
Mountain White-crowned Sparrow
FOS Green-tailed Towhee (adult female)
Red-winged Blackbirds

Also seen:
FOS Lewis's Woodpecker (2 flying through)
FOS Bullock's Oriole
FOS Turkey Vulture (real late for me)
Yellow-rumped Warbler (mixed, many)
50 Chipping Sparrows

Have a birdy weekend,
Steve Brown
