[cobirds] Roaring Fork Saturday (Garfield, Eagle, Pitkin)

Hi all

Mary Harris, Jennifer Long and I enjoyed several hours birding yesterday on "blustery Saturday".  Highlights included

My yard in rural Carbondale

Lincolns Sparrow 1 – and still present today, Sunday

Lesser Goldfinches several

But no sign of the Pinyon Jays that are erratic in visiting currently

Blue Lake (El Jebel)

Common Merganser 4

A few Canada Geese and Mallard.

It's such a shame how this lake, formerly a wildlife mecca, is but a mere shadow of its former glory

SpringParkReservoir

Fantastic numbers of wildfowl – a real jewel in the valley!

100's of Ring-n.Duck, Lesser Scaup, Gadwall, Shovelers, Green-w.Teal, Coot

Cinnamon Teal 1

Barrow's Goldeneye c50

Common Goldeneye scores

Common Merganser c50

Sandhill Crane 3

Bald Eagle 1

Northern Shrike 1

American Avocet 1

Tree Swallow c20

Yellow-headed Blackbird 1 male

Snowmass Village

Long-tailed Weasel

Red-naped Sapsucker

Evening Grosbeak 2

Good birding all
