The DFO Field Trip for Saturday, April 15 will be to Cameron Pass for Boreal Owls led by Francis Commercon and Paul Slingsby (siskinbyderailleur At gmail.com; 303-470-9130). This is a strenuous trip. Diredtions: Meet at 2 pm. At SW corner of Moby Arena at CSU Campus, Fort Collins to Carpoll. From Denver take I-25 north to Prospect Road, exit 268. West on Prospect until Shields St, north on Shields to Elizabeth St. Turn right (east into giant parking lot for Moby Arena. Will start at Moose Visitor Center for maountain specialties. Then return to Cameron Pass and hike out to the (pre-scouted) area where we will look for Boreal Owl after sunset. Will eat dinner on the trail and keep an eye out for American Three-toed Woodpecker. Will be snowshoeing for up to 6 miles with 200-500 ft elevational gain. Will be hiking in the mountians at high elevation at night. Bring your own dinner. Bring hand warmer and a healight with extra batteries. Hats and glove are required, and warm drinks in thermoses are suggested. Please bring your own showshoes. Register online or contact leader.
