[cobirds] Arapahoe County - South Platte Reservoir Common Loon and Eaglewatch Lake waterbirds

All,

From 2:00 - 3:15 this afternoon, I visited South Platte Reservoir (about 15 minutes), and Eaglewatch Lake (basically, main lake north of the bathrooms next to the middle parking lot of South Platte Res park.  I took pictures of a very cooperative common loon in the SE corner of the reservoir.

While there were no rarities on Eaglewatch Lake, I felt the variety of waterbirds deserved listing:

Ruddy duck
Common goldeneye
Pied-billed Grebe
Gadwall
Canada goose
Cackling goose
Mallard
Bufflehead
Common merganser
Hooded merganser
American coot
Wood duck
Western Grebe
Norther shoveler

On the pond just north of the blind (don't know the name of this one), I added:
Northern pintail
American Wigeon
Green-winged teal
Belted kingfisher (calling)

It's not often that I see 18 species of waterbirds in just over an hour!  Unfortunately, no scoters...
